Azerbaijan GP recap

A flawless drive from Bottas saw him back to the top of the driver standings and level on race wins with Hamilton this season at 2 a piece. It was another dominant weekend for Mercedes as they locked out the front row and then sealed a 4th consecutive 1-2 finish in 2019 - ominous signs for the chasing pack. It was once again disappointment for Ferrari as they had to settle for third with Vettel whilst the early weekend promise of Leclerc faded away after his crash in qualifying. It was a better weekend for Racing Point and McLaren as all of their drivers finished inside the top 10, an encouraging result for both.

Top 10 - 1. Bottas, 2. Hamilton, 3. Vettel, 4. Verstappen, 5. Leclerc, 6. Perez, 7. Sainz, 8. Norris, 9. Stroll, 10. Raikkonen

Spanish GP

Last season it was a Mercedes 1-2 at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Hamilton the victor. Verstappen completed the podium places in his Red Bull. This year it has a feel of a must win for Ferrari on the track where they showed such pace in winter testing. Can this finally be the time when they turn their season around and start to close the already big gap to Mercedes?

2019 podium prediction - 1. Leclerc, 2. Hamilton, 3. Vettel

Fantasy Game

With the race win and pole position to his name Bottas was the top scorer in round 4, with a total of 301 points. He becomes the first driver in the game to score over 1000 points, with Hamilton 50 points behind on 972. After the Mercedes drivers it is tight between the next 3 with Leclerc having a 45 point lead over Vettel whilst Verstappen is a further 20 back. Given the extra cost, Vettel is the least profitable of the 3 so far. Will you back the German to lead the Ferrari change and claim victory in Spain? Raikkonen leads the midfield pack and is actually ahead of Gasly at this stage of the season, whilst the 2 Racing Point drivers made good ground this time out - both scoring over 110 points in Azerbaijan. Down at the bottom it was more misery for Grosjean and Ricciardo as both failed to finish the race. Is it time to jump ship if you're an owner or will you keep faith and hope they can turn it around?

Chinese GP

A third consecutive Mercedes 1-2 sees the Silver Arrows hold an already significant advantage in both championships. Despite Bottas coming out on top on Saturday it was Hamilton who emerged the victor of the race on Sunday. Vettel clinched his first podium of the season after team orders were imposed by the Scuderia early in the race to allow him past Leclerc. This call rather compromised the Monegasque driver who finished 5th, behind Verstappen. It was Gasly's best race so far for Red Bull as he finished in 6th and pitted late on to claim the extra point for setting the fastest lap of the race. Ricciardo got his 2019 campaign back on track with a solid 7th place in the Renault ahead of the reliable duo of Perez and Raikkonen, whilst Albon rounded off the points positions with a great recovery drive to finish 10th after starting from the pit lane - he was duly awarded driver of the day for his efforts.

Top 10 - 1. Hamilton, 2. Bottas, 3. Vettel, 4. Verstappen, 5. Leclerc, 6. Gasly, 7. Ricciardo, 8. Perez, 9. Raikkonen, 10. Albon

Azerbaijan

Last season a chaotic race saw Hamilton clinch victory ahead of Raikkonen and the Force India of Sergio Perez. With 3 consecutive 1-2 finishes Mercedes head into the race as favourites but Ferrari will be trying everything to usurp them and get their first victory of 2019 under their belts.

2019 podium prediction - 1. Hamilton, 2. Vettel, 3. Leclerc

Fantasy Game

Hamilton claimed top spot for the second race in a row with a total of 291 points after his victory in China. The 2 Mercedes drivers are already some 200 points clear of the rest of the field at this early stage. Will you be making room for one in your team? Albon is proving excellent value for money as he is currently the 7th highest points scorer in the game. At the other end of the scale Sainz (£6.54M) and Grosjean (£7.30M) have had disappointing starts to the season but their fortunes will surely turn soon so perhaps their is a bargain to be had for those shrewd players among us. In our overall leaderboard David McMillan retains first place ahead of Jack Lowe - who has claimed top spot in the last 2 rounds and closing in.
